Representation of Decimals On The Number Line
REPRESENTATION OF DECIMALS ON THE NUMBER LINE: Any decimal number can be represented on a numberline. It means we identifying the position of the number on a line with respect to the origin.
Representation of 4.2 on the number line: Whenever wewant to represent the number on a number line we will follow the following steps: Step 1: We will identify the numbers between which that point lies. In this example we Clearly know that 4.2 lies between 4 and 5 in fig. (i). Step 2: We will magnify the line between these two points. and will mark points to divide the line into ten division. As in the figure ii we have marked points between 4 and 5. Step 3: Now we can see identify the poisition as in fig. (ii), 4. 2 is represented by the second mark of division after 4 in between 4 and 5. |  |
